Design Something Cool Every Day 2009

Creative Director Brock Davis decided to Design / Make Something Cool Every Day 2009.
He was quite successful in his self project. One piece of creative work made every day for 365 consecutive days (January 1st – December 31st).
I love all of these a lot but sharing only my most favorite 22 days, to see more please hit the link at the end of this post.

Brock Davis is an artist and musician who works on primarily self-initiated projects in a variety of mediums.He currently serves as creative director at Carmichael Lynch where his work has won such accolades as the prestigious Cannes Lion award for creative excellence. Not limiting himself to advertising, Brock’s talents span music, drawing, graphic design, writing, works of art both serious and absurd, and a killer instinct for video games. Short Circuit Book Shelf Design

Industrial designer Alexandra DiCairano designed a fabulous book self. Alexandra named it “Short Circuit Shelf” and wrote a bit about it at Coroflot:
“Beauty is sometimes overlooked by scale. circuit boards have a beautiful and efficient pattern that perfectly serve their function; they hold and transport digital information. these bookshelves are inspired by the form of circuit boards and they will help to contain the physical information found in books.”

Live Bread Design

I love the live bread design by Beau Monroe a student of graphic design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Beau Monroe wrote on his website about Live Bread Design:
“This is the second part of the Opulento project. I created an event for my company entitled Noble Reaping, and designed an invitation and takeaway pieces for the event. Since part of the theme of the event is day of the dead, the takeaway pieces are packages of Live Bread. Also, three brand “personality” posters were created to be hung around the food store.”

Water ForWater Design

New work by Glenn Stewart of Mindscape Films:

“The goal of the design was to reflect the international goals of the water (via the small text on the front with WATER in different languages) along with providing a design that would stand out from the rest of the bottled water that’s currently on the market. The design of the bottle took on and off approximately six months, going through various different design iterations including trials on different stocks, and was also affected by getting approval for the right launch date.

All of the profits from the sale of WATER FOR WATER go directly towards water based projects and initiatives and currently the first project is a Water Station in Caloocan, Philippines. It’ll provide not only clean drinking water at a minute cost, but also host a community centre that’ll he provide education both for children and adults as well as run programs on healthy living.”
